QWERTY vs POVERTY

The keypad has undergone change with the introduction of QWERTY mobiles.
The keyboard is likely to undergo change with the introduction of new symbol for the Rupee!
The parks in the metros have undergone change with the renovation plan.
The roads in the city and NH have undergone change with the introduction of flyovers and bridges.
The theatres have undergone change with the introduction of multiplexes and malls.
The public transportation has undergone change with the introduction of luxury buses and Maharaja on wheels.
The list can go on and on and on like Duracell….
But sadly, one thing which has not undergone change is the POVERTY line...
According to a report, more than 42% of India’s population of 1.35 billion still lives below the poverty line. An urban family (of five) earning Rs.2200 per month or less and a rural family (of five) earning Rs.1650 or less is poor is considered to be below poverty line.
It is hard to believe that nearly half the population is below the poverty line while the other half is busy upgrading the mobile at least twice a year.
Is it not wise to start a factory and employ several hundred people in the surrounding area rather than to put a cell tower and provide signal to thousands of people in the area?

“PAUL”aabishekam!

Though am not a football fan, I could resist myself from writing this article on Mr.Paul, the predictor!

Since I kept thinking about Paul before sleep, I got a strange dream….Here it goes.

IF ONLY PAUL WERE IN INDIA and linked to CRICKET!!!!

Paul is made to choose the winner from 2 boxes – India Vs Pakistan

Paul is really tensed as he knows that his choice will not matter and Paul is in a fix ( I don’t mean what you think)
Paul thinks in mind what will happen if he sits on the Indian box and if India wins –
He will become a hero overnight , there will be a new political party started with his photo, people will garland his posters and cutouts and people will do him “ Paul”abishegam”.
Copywriters of most advertising agencies would use the name on their headers and scripts and it goes on and on.

Paul pauses for a minute and thinks what if India loses. Still Paul would be on the safer side as the Astrologers would come into play to save him telling that Paul was facing the wrong direction when he sat on the box and it was not an auspicious day and Paul is going through a testing phase and so on. They may also end up renaming from Paul to Bala.

Irrespective of the results, the so called news channels would make everything as a flash news and keep building his publicity.

What if Paul sits on Pakistan’s box and Pakistan loses – No big deal. Octopus Briyani would be ready very soon ;-)

I couldn’t stop laughing in my dream and I woke up to get ready to the office..

Us and them

Though rainy days are always a delight to the chennaites as it is a big relief from the scorching sun, it poses a different kind of problem.
Traffic, bumpy roads and rash driving… and it becomes like a “Survival of the fittest” in the jungle.
Thanks to the 2 wheeler drivers, the platforms are fast disappearing in Chennai.
Most of them think that it’s a separate lane laid for them by the Corporation!
And 4 wheeler drivers are not far too behind.
They just don’t care about the two wheelers on either side( I mean it) and enjoy splashing water as though they are going on a water splash ride in a theme park.
And the above rule perfectly follows the hierarchy.
Lorries, buses and trucks taking cars for a ride( literally!!), cars taking bikes for a ride, bikes to cycles and cycles to pedestrians..
I would be happy if official communications follow such strict hierarchy.
Despite all these the weather makes us feel happy!
Rain rain go away ( only when I am travelling to and from office) Come again every day( and night) :-) Have a cool day.

Weird wired world – Its not wireless yet!

Dear Friends,

I was working from home last Saturday( of course with the entertainment mode on – Thanks to Skype, Gtalk, my mobile and headphones)
Parallelly, I was also trying to upload few snaps onto the social media websites ( ORK n FB).
I suddenly realized that there are too many wires around me and was puzzled whether we are really in a wireless era.
There was laptop battery charger cable, mouse connecting socket, external hard disk wire, USB cable from digicam to the laptop, head phones, mobile charger, LAN cable from the telephone around me :-)
Now tell me are we wired or not?

See you soon with my 2nd blog. Keep reading.
